INTRODUCING THE GOLDWINGThe Goldwing remains Honda's most pristine touring model with its unique ability to make long-distance travel a truly rewarding and enjoyable experience. Launched as the GL1000 in 1975 its horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine was not only physically different, it felt very different with a silky output perfect for long days in the saddle. A six-cylinder, 1500cc overhaul in 1987 saw the Goldwing once again state its intent and purpose to benchmark the ultimate touring machine. Over 40 years of development has moulded the new-generation Goldwing, a superb touring experience for rider and passenger.
DOUBLE-WALL EXHAUST PIPES
You may think this is just for cosmetics, but on a hot day single-wall exhaust pipes can throw off a lot of heat. The Goldwing's twin-wall design keeps things cooler. Plus, this is the best sounding Goldwing we've ever built!
The horizontally-opposed, 1,833cc six-cylinder engine punches out an arm-tugging 170Nm of torque@ 5,500rpm - it's the heart of the Honda Goldwing. The Goldwing's engine uses a four-valve, which is also a big part of the Gold Wing's superior fuel efficiency.
Your new Goldwing features an electronic smart key. When the key is in close proximity (say, in your jacket pocket), you can just hop on, press a button, and ride off. An "answer back" feature lets you find your bike in the dark or in crowded rally parking.
The Goldwing was one of the first touring bikes to offer Cruise Control and with our stellar throttle-by-wire system, it's better than ever.
The combined capacity between the trunk and saddlebag is 110 litres, plenty to hold what you need for a weekend away. Accessories include an integrated brake light, an auto-on interior light and a luggage rack.
You'll notice that the Goldwing's front turn signals are integrated into the rear-view mirrors and use three LEDs each. The rear LED turn signals are built into the tail- and brake-light assembly for a clean, integrated look. Best of all, they're self-cancelling.
LOW SPEED REVERSE
Available on the Africa Twin Adventure Sports DCT and ES models, this is the transmission of the future. Inside, it's as tough as a conventional manual, with steel gears throughout. You can let it shift for you, or paddle shifters in the manual mode give you full control. Four settings (Drive, Sport 1, 2, and 3) let you pick what's right for your riding conditions.
HONDA SELECTABLE TOURQUE CONTROL
On our Goldwing Tour models, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) constantly monitors your bike's rear-wheel speed and adjusts torque instantly. It's a great feature when riding in the rain, on sandy, gritty roads, over wet leaves, or anywhere else where surface conditions can compromise traction.
HUMAN MACHINE INTERFACE
Ever have to scroll through some abstract menu to access a feature on your electronic device? You'll find plenty of simple, dedicated switches and controls on your Goldwing's handlebars, ergonomically placed, which give you simple, intuitive control inputs that zero out frustration. There is also a centralized control knob in the console similar to modern autos.
